Seat Summary

Manages remodeling projects on-site, partnering with the Director of Production, Project Manager, client, subcontractors, and other trades, coordinating all aspects of the project so that it is completed in line with the contracted scope, within budget, and on time. Has a comprehensive understanding of the project, advising and implementing efficiency at all times. Represents the company in a professional and proactive manner in all dealings with those associated with, and affected by, the building project. Ensures that work is carried out in a manner consistent with ABA’s core values and provides quality-control in every aspect of production on a given project.

Accountability

  • Work closely with the Lead Carpenter, Project Manager, Architect, and Designer to plan
    the project effectively by ensuring that the project requirements, specification, design
    drawings, health, and safety proposals are read, understood, and agreed to, and that a
    project program is in place.

  • Set up an emergency plan and general site facilities for the project, ensuring that these
    are in line with the health and safety proposal.

  • Setup and maintain facilities and manage stock planning so that materials, shop, and
    tools are organized to meet the timescales and workflow demands of the project.

  • Set-up a secure site, including access and egress.

  • Formulate a material schedule for the project, including take offs from issued drawings and specifications, and produce requisitions as far ahead of program periods as possible.

  • Produce a production timeline in conjunction with the Director of Production, Lead Carpenter, and Project Manager to ensure employees and subcontractors are scheduled in time to meet the program.

  • Maintain the schedule and track progress, keeping records online and making regular updates to the Director of Production via Weekly Production Meetings.

  • Provide first aid facilities, ensuring there is a first aid area and that first aid stocks/facilities are kept clear.

  • Ensure safety to the public, site visitors, and staff on-site at all times, ensuring that preventative measures are taken including personal protection, following safety instructions, and overseeing all aspects of the health and safety requirements for the site such as guardrails, fire extinguishers, etc.

  • Maintain security of installed pieces, perimeter barriers, stored materials, and shop/tools at all times during the project.

  • Supervise and manage all site based operatives, overseeing all aspects of their work, to include: carrying out safety inductions; controlling quality of work; cleanliness & tidiness; the use of shop and tools; waste reduction; upkeep of shop and facilities; use of personal protective equipment/wear.

  • Ensure that all works carried out are undertaken within current codes of practice (eg for site work, plastering, carpentry etc) and that works are to the required standard Check that all materials used, including those used by subcontractors, are compliant with technical and quality specifications.

  • Document all site activities via photos and daily log, uploaded each day.

  • Maintain and track deliveries, ensure that stock and materials are deployed properly, offload/check all deliveries to relevant storage facilities, and manage stock issues, adhering at all times to operational needs and with due regard for health, safety, and security.

  • Maintain safety and cleanliness of client’s belongings by providing surface protection and dust barriers whenever necessary.

  • Communicate effectively at all times with the client, client’s representative, project architect, project designer, local authorities, residents (if applicable), and all persons affected by the project, representing Adams + Beasley with professionalism, integrity, and honesty.

  • Liaise daily with the Project Manager and Director of Production.

Additional Position Responsibilities

  • Additional responsibilities will be assigned based on business needs.


Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Substantial experience of the full life cycle of a number of residential remodeling projects, involving the supervision of the project and the staff working on it.

  • Construction Supervisor’s License, plus some site based work experience up to supervisory level.

  • MA CSL, RRP

  • Analytical skills to be able to understand and interpret complex technical specifications, drawings and documents and formulate plans from them.

  • Written communication to be able to write reports and complete paperwork/administration.

  • Numeracy skills, to enable scaling of drawings, checking measurements/angles, and doing calculations.

  • Verbal communication skills to enable effective communication at all levels, and able to develop good relationships with clients/client representatives
